Forms of Love By Anhlinh Duong
Dorian Gray overcomes the many facades of love. From Basil to an innocent village girl, Dorian is entwined with the difficulties of love and friendship.
Eros:The passionate and intense love that triggers the romantic feelings to surface. The intensity of the intimacy has one to rather enjoy oneself rather then the partner. The passion causes one to say " I love you". The phrase simply is only an emotional phrase that is caught up in the blur of the love.
Storge: A love for a friend or family, rather safe and warm. A love that is concern for one another, natural to occur without the worry of one to judge another. Occasionally, friendships with this love may turn into a romantic love, not based on the intensity like an Eros love but based on the unconditional love and commitment that secures a relationship.
Phileo: The tenderness of this love makes one desire a friendship with the person as well as their love. This love acquires an affectionate feel, rather closely related to an Agape love but more on the friendship area than love. The commitment of this love bases on the feelings one has for another because one chooses their love, chooses their happiness.
Agape: A love utterly pure and honest. Almost as if one found one's soul-mate, their perfect match. The love has no boundaries, loving inside out of one's partner. The flaws are exposed to one another and acceptance is the only action happening. The love has one deeply involve with the other, sacrificing their own need's just for a smile on the face of their love ones.
